Changing the backup type to "mirror" works. I guess the compression component has troubles if file size is too large...
Please note that I had to delete and recreate the task as I was getting "permission denied errors" trying to change the backup type.

Sure, 1. local HDD (C:\) is NTFS 2. the free space on the local HDD is more than 400GB. Win10 x64 install is a fresh install. 3.
