I made a full backup of my C: drive using Fbackup and was glad I did because the hard drive failed soon after.
The backup is on my ipod classic, and it was working fine, allowing me to go into the archive using IZarc and retrieve files as needed.
All of a sudden, the backup file on my ipod went from 30Gb to 3Gb and I am unable to retrieve anything. I have a new computer and I ran the restore function on a newly installed Fbackup, and it restores empty folders only. No files.
I have not written anything to my ipod since the mishap, and am hoping the data is still on the drive, just not being catalogued correctly.
I am desperate to retrieve this data and hope you can help me. I have put my .fkc file in a compressed folder and sent to info at Fbackup, so hopefully that will help expedite the process.
Thank you for your help!!

Hi,
As I understand, your zip file was 30 GB and you opened it with IZarc on your ipod. After that the archive became 3 GB. After that you tried to restore the files with FBackup but they are empty.

That means the you changed the archive deleting some of its content.

You should never manually touch the files in destination only if you know what you are doing.
The backup catalog you sent us is fine. The problem is with the files in the zip archive.

Thank you for taking the time to look it over for me.
I believe the files are still there, just not being catalogued correctly.
When I used WinZip to try and extract the files, they showed in the file list as being the correct sizes, but I got the error message "Unable to find local header."
Is there any way to access them?

Hi,
It seems the zip header was affected by the operations you performed on the zip file. In this case, it cannot be accessed.

Having only 3 GB of files instead of 30 GB, that means many files were deleted.

This is my greatest fear.
If the files have been deleted, is there any way at all to recover them? I have not used the ipod since the mishap happened.

Hi,
Normally, you should be able to do that, but I cannot tell you how. That procedure is not related to FBackup.
