Error at importing tasks from 4.7 to 7.1

Post by ASGL »

Hi,
I have updated from version 4.7 to version 7.1. The issue I encounter is that when I import 4.7 tasks, the destination folder is automatically changed from the original one to C:\Users\Public\Documents\My FBackup. I cannot find an option to preserve the destination folders of the original 4.7 tasks. Does anyone have any idea about how could this be corrected? I would appreciate your assistance.

P.S. I did follow the advice I found on this forum and emptied C:\users\myname\appdata\local\temp, but nothing changed.

Hi,

Can you please tell us what the old destination was?
Do you have the same problem if you delete the backup job from FBackup and you open in FBackup the .fkc catalog from the backup destination?

Hi,
Thank you very much for your assistance. Yes, opening in FBackup the .fkc catalogs from the backup destination on the external drive solved the issue. The irony is that I had already tried this. I was unsuccessful because I was opening wrong .fkc files (i.e. associated with some of about one hundred deleted jobs). Why those .fkc files were not deleted with their respective jobs remains a mystery, but anyway all's well that ends well.
Thank you once more.

Unfortunately...

Well, I was too optimistic. Different backup jobs are normally done on three different external hard drives and two flash drives. All are connected as F:. For the first two hard drives and the two flash drives I was able to open the .fkc files from the drives and restore the jobs. Some of these files were in the root of F:, some in specific folders on F:.
When I try this with the third external drive, however, for each of the five .fkc files I want to open in their folder on the drive I get the following message:

Cannot load backup catalog "F:\.....fkc"
Error message: "SQL error " SELECT Name, GUID, Definition FROM ScheduledTasks " - SQLite_Prepare_V2 - no such table: ScheduledTasks, SQL logic error or missing database (1) (SQL03)"

I don't see any reason for this drive to behave differently form the other ones, but still...

...but finally solved.

For the remaining five jobs I had the idea of importing them from FBackup 4.7 once more. To my surprise, the fist worked fine. The other four, however, reverted to the initial problem: the destination directory was replaced with C:\Users\Public\Documents\My FBackup.

Still, when I changed it manually to the right folder on the external drive everything returned to normal. I was afraid that the content of that folder would be deleted but no, the old catalog was correctly read and only new files were saved on the external drive.

Now, how all this can happen is something beyond my understanding. I tend to believe that, indeed, computer science is not a hard science - and perhaps it is not science at all.
