Bacukp .pst Outlook File

Post by fcodiaz »

Hi, can someone help me?
i have a weekly backup task, but when i check the result of the backup the .pst Outlook file doesn´t create correctly.. For example, if the real size is 1GB in the NAS the size is 0KB.

Hi,

Is there Outlook open?
Do you have the same problem if you close Outlook and run again the backup?
Do you get any warnings in the backup log?

Hi,
Yes it is.. the result of the log is the next:

Warning: Skipping file C:\Users\Usuario\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
Source error (code 33). El proceso no tiene acceso al archivo porque otro proceso tiene bloqueada una parte del archivo. (C:\Users\Usuario\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst).

Something is still using the .pst file while FBackup tries to back-up. Can you make sure that Outlook is closed (i.e. from task manager) before running the backup again?

Quote from main page: "If a file is in use by another program at the time of the backup, FBackup will still be able to back up that file, because it uses the Volume Shadow Service that Windows provides. So, as long as you're using Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2008/2003 Server (32/64-bit), FBackup will back up those open files. As an example, you will be able to back up your Outlook emails and settings without closing the program first."

Shouldn't fbackup be able to make the backup in such cases?

Thanks for your answers... on this time i was checking the process, and i had the same result, i verified from task manager and the aplication was close but the .pst file doesn't backup correctly.
and also, i checked if the aplication makes the backup again, but it doesn't run.

there's another way to configure the task?

Hi,

@AnotherUser: That is correct, but if the Volume Shadow copy service is not working properly, backing open files could fail.

@fcodiaz: If Outlook is closed and FBackup still cannot back up the .pst file, can you manually copy it to another location?
