    Hi,

Please send us the last backup log from View->Job Logs->Last backup log.
Also send us the SchedLgU.Txt file from C:Windows.
    Send the files to info[at]fbackup[dot]com

    Hi,

Please download the latest version of FBackup 4.2 build 156.
If you still have the problem, please recreate the scheduled task.
Do you have the same problem with the other backup jobs?

I have the same problem. The first time I set up a scheduled backup it runs, but the next day it fails to start. The summary always says "Last backup on:", followed by the date of the first backup, the statement that the backup was succesful, and "Next scheduled backup:" followed by tomorrow's date. Unfortunately, when the time comes for the next scheduled backup, nothing happens - except that the date given for the next backup is changed to tomorrow.

I am running Version 4.2 Build 156 under Windows XP.

    Hi,

Gibarrow, what backup type do you use: Full or Mirror?
If you use Mirror, please make sure there are new or modified files to be backed up.

Sirtom1961, we are talking about FBackup. I asked you if you have other backup jobs from FBackup with the same problem, not about other backup applications.

We cannot reproduce the situation here. All our scheduled jobs run as expected.
Please give us more details to reproduce the situation here.

I have the same problem. FBackup schedule won't start until I set in options to start with the windows. After the FBackup start I can close it and schedule starts normally, otherwise doesn't.

    greets

Sorry about the delay in replying - I've been away for a week.
I'm running full backup. Strangely enough, the day after my last posting, the scheduled backup ran normally, but since then it has failed (and no, I don't just mean on the days when the computer was switched off!). In fact I was sitting here at my computer waiting for the scheduled backup to run at 11 am today, and can confirm that nothing happened - except that the status now says:

    Last backup on: 1/10/2009 11:08:00
    Last backup was successful
    Next backup on: 13/10/2009 11:00:00

Me too! Just to confirm: immediately after posting my last message, I ran a backup manually, then next day (October 13th), the backup scheduled for 11 am ran automatically, but today, as usual, nothing happened at 11 o'clock! In other words, after any change in the settings or a manual backup, the next scheduled backup runs, but not subsequent ones. I certainly hope this can be fixed, as in all other respects FBackup does a good job. It certainly beats Retrospect, which is totally incomprehensible and for some reason or other only backs up the files it feels like. I used it for months before I discovered that it wasn't actually backing up all the folders I had specified. I never managed to figure out why, and finally gave up and uninstalled it.

    Hi Admin,

Has there been any progress regarding this issue? I would really like to be able to get Fbackup to run a regular, scheduled backup.

    Hi,

Yes, build 167 should fix the problem.

It works! At last I have a backup program which is simple, understandable and reliable.
    Thank you!

I, too, am having problems with the scheduler not activating. I am using FBackup (free) to backup the email on my private office server. It runs the manual backup great, but the scheduled backups (I have more than one) do not initiate. Does FBackup install itself as a Windows Service, or is it a program waiting for someone to log onto the computer before it will run. Naturally, we don't use the server as a workstation, so it may go weeks without someone logging on, especially at the console -- logons are generally done via RemoteDesktop. Can you help with this?

    Thank you in advance,
    Dennis

    Hi,

Until the latest release of FBackup, only the Standalone scheduler was implemented.
You needed to be logged on to run the backup.
In the latest release, we also added the Windows Scheduler which requires your Windows login password and can run scheduled tasks when no user is logged on.

So please create a new scheduled task using the Windows Scheduler from Backup Properties->Scheduler.
