    Summary

    This article explains how to schedule backup jobs in FBackup. A scheduler can be set for a backup to be executed automatically at certain time intervals (daily, weekly, monthly) or at system startup, logon or when idle.

    A backup job can be scheduled by selecting Properties->Scheduler). The Schedulers page lists the available information about scheduled tasks for the current job and allows you to Add, Edit, Delete and Schedule tasks.


    How to schedule an existing backup job using FBackup

    Steps to follow when scheduling an existing backup job:

    1. Open FBackup, go to Backup Properties.
    2. On the Schedulers page, click on the Add button. The Schedule Job window will open.
      • In the Execute section choose if you want to close the Main application after run
      • In the Action section you can select between Backup and Load
        - you can set the Clear backup before run option. FBackup will first delete the ".bkc" file and all zip files associated with the current backup job and after that execute the scheduled task.
    3. Press OK. The Schedule window will open.
      • From the Schedule Task drop-down list, you can select the frequency for  backup.
      • In the Start time field, can be selected the time when the backup will run. Press OK.
    4. Press Save.


    How to schedule a backup job without using FBackup

    A backup job can be scheduled from the Scheduled Tasks window. To schedule an existing backup using the Windows Scheduler, the Windows login password is required. If you don't have a Windows login password, your should not enter any password when scheduling.

    Steps to follow when scheduling an existing backup job from Scheduled Tasks:

    1. Go to Start menu, click All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System tools and click Scheduled Tasks.
    2. Go to File menu and select NewScheduled Task
    3. A new task will be created. Please rename it.
    4. Right-click on the new created task and select Properties
    5. In the Run field type:
      "C:\Program Files\Softland\FBackup 4\fbaSchedStarter.exe" /R "job name" -STD

    Note:
    - In this examples are used the default installation paths. If you have installed FBackup into another location, you have to type the correct file path.

    1. In the Start in field type: "C:\Program Files\Softland\FBackup 4\"
    2. Click on Set password and type your Windows login password.
    3. Make sure the Enabled option is set (checked).
    4. Go to the Schedule tab
    5. From the Schedule Task drop-down list, you can select the frequency for  backup.
    6. In the Start time field, you can type a time to run the backup.
    7. Press OK.
