However, I have noticed this is a general problem. but I can't find a solution anywhere so I hope you guys can help me. I made a back up because on my Lacie external hard disk because I had to have my hard disk replaced. The back up went as normal, so I didn't check it afterwards. (dumb me) Now my back up folder appears empty, but when i look in properties the map is 78gb big (as big as my back up should be). I have tried making the hidden folders visible and so on but that is not the problem. Can someone help me? I'm pretty desperate. FBackup didn't properly restore a lot of my software properly so I now have to re-enter serial keys etc. Can I fix this somehow? I was going to re- restore after scrubbing everything again but I don't know if this will make any difference. I'm backing up to a flash drive, so I have the destination source selected to removable drive J, which the computer recognizes. When I do a scheduled and manual backup I always get this error message "Windows no Disk" Exception processing message parameters and then there are a bunch of alphanumeric sequences. If I x-out of the windows instead of pressing, cancel, retry, or continue, the job will complete successfully, but I have to x out of about eight error message windows. So I'm not sure why I'm getting this message when it otherwise backups to the flash drive with no problems. The error message also seems to prevent the scheduled backups from completing. I have the scheduler set to go off at 3 AM and when I get up at 6 or 7 fbackup is still running with the error message waiting for a prompt. I don't mind backing up manually, but it would be nice if the automation worked. I have always been very happy with it, and had to use it twice already to restore from hd failure. On to my problem... The other day, I was working on a music project when my program told me a set of samples could not be found. I went to Windows Explorer to locate them, and realized that the entire F: drive had disappeared. It was simply gone from view! I immediately shut down the computer, opened it up and made sure all my hd cables were firmly plugged in. When I rebooted, the drive was back! However, when my 5pm scheduled FBackup job started, I realized it was re-adding everything from my F drive to the backup drive (G:). This leads me to believe that the previous day during the 5pm backup (while my F drive was "gone"), FBackup had removed all those files from the copy! I lucked out and did not lose any data, but this seemed to me a potentially serious design flaw! If in the future I lose a drive because it actually goes bad, will FBackup delete those files from the backup copy? This would defeat the purpose. If a drive cannot be found, can the program pause and show an error message before proceeding? I can't feel safe using a backup program if it can potentially delete my files. I hope this makes sense. I DO NOT switch the PC off at night - but have occasionally rebooted the PC during the day. The power options are set to default which puts the PC to sleep after a period of inactivity. I do not have to log in again when the PC returns from sleep. My user account has administrator privileges and is permanently logged in. Fbackup looks great and works fine if I kick off backups manually, but I have had no success in getting the internal scheduler to work. I have created a daily backup in mirror mode, set to execute at 4am each day. The scheduler properties are all set to default, with the exception that I have set the Power Management option to wake the computer from sleep to run the backup. I have checked the processes that are running in Task Manager and the Fbackup scheduler fbaSched.exe is running (as is the Windows 7 task scheduler service) . I have had a look in the Fbackup log and the scheduled backup job did not start. I have had a quick read through other threads on problems with scheduling backs but cannot find anything that seems to help (there is nothing illuminating in schedglu.txt). Summarising, I have a standard install of the latest version of Fbackup on an almost new PC. I have created a daily backup job and scheduled it using Fbackups internal scheduler to run at 4am each day. It doesn't run. Where do I go from here? Any thoughts?
