Hi,

If you don't have a Windows login password, you should use the Built-in scheduler.

I select a backup job and go to properties. I enter a user name and password, using Windows scheduler. After saying OK, no entry appears in the schedule list. This process works fine on a different computer. The user name and password are different from the logged in user, who has no password.

Please go to Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Task Scheduler.
Delete the existing tasks and try again to create scheduled tasks from FBackup.

I have 3 tasks and I was able to create a schedule for the first one, then could not for the other two (or even a new task).

I am under Win 7 Pro and latest fbackup (which I also re-installed but that changed nothing).

Hi,
I was able to add a schedule to one of my backup task but not for the others.

When I go into the properties of the task, then the Schedule option, I do see the box normally displaying the schedule but it's empty.

So I click on ADD, then I get the first pop up called "SCHEDULER PROPERTIES", then I click OK and enter my pass, nothing happens. I am returned to the main fbackup task schedule menu ("when do you want to backup" ) and it's blank, no schedule entered. When I should get a "detail schedule" window where I enter frequency and times.

When I go into the windows scheduler, I see that a schedule was created by fbackup with no times etc...

i am puzzled.
regards,
B.

Hi,

Until the latest release of FBackup, only the Standalone scheduler was implemented.
You needed to be logged on to run the backup.
In the latest release, we also added the Windows Scheduler which requires your Windows login password and can run scheduled tasks when no user is logged on.

So please create a new scheduled task using the Windows Scheduler from Backup Properties->Scheduler.

I, too, am having problems with the scheduler not activating. I am using FBackup (free) to backup the email on my private office server. It runs the manual backup great, but the scheduled backups (I have more than one) do not initiate. Does FBackup install itself as a Windows Service, or is it a program waiting for someone to log onto the computer before it will run. Naturally, we don't use the server as a workstation, so it may go weeks without someone logging on, especially at the console -- logons are generally done via RemoteDesktop. Can you help with this?

Thank you in advance,

I run the latest FBACKUP version 4.4 build 218 under windows 7 64 bit system. Everything works fine except the scheduler has intermittent problem. I schedule the backup every night to a home networked hard drive. It worked perfect for a few days (normally 3-5 days) and then just stopped. There is no warning, no message and no job log for the missing days. If I go in and mannually re-start a backup, it will finish succcessfully and the scheduler will then run perfectly for another 3-5 days and stop. This pattern is quite repeatable.

Any idea what is heppening here? Thanks.

Hi,

The backup is scheduled to run every day with the repeat every hour option.

In this case, you should put the scheduler start time at let's say 07:00 AM
After that the repeat task every hour should be until duration 23 hours and 30 minutes.

This way the backup task will run every hour for 23 hours and 30 minutes.
After that the scheduler for the next day will start the backup and it will run again for 23 hours and 30 minutes. This will be repeated every day.

Hi,

I would like to run a mirror backup every hour, permanently. However, when I go into Scheduler > Advanced > Repeat Task - I can select for it to run every hour, but the "Until" option seems to be mandatory, meaning I have to input an end time.

I don't seem to be able to unselect the "Until" option completely, which would enable my mirror backup to run once every hour, permanently.

Can the "Until" option be unchecked completely? Or is there another way to schedule an hourly mirror backup?

Thanks!

No, that is not possible.
You did not understand the meaning of that option.
The "Run at Windows startup" will start FBackup after you log in to your Windows user account.

In order to run a scheduled backup, you need to be logged in.
If you want to run scheduled backups even if no user is logged in, please consider trying a commercial application as Backup4all.

You cannot do that in FBackup.
2. You cannot run a missed scheduler as soon as the computer is on.

Hello. I have 2 questions about this wonderful program.

1. Is it possible to configure a backup job where any empty folder won't get copied?
If I use filters to restrict which files are copied, I get many empty folders because none of the files inside them matched any filter.

2. If I schedule a job to start, for example, at 12:00 every day, and the computer is off at that time, is it possible to force the program to run the backup if the time has been missed? (eg. if I'd turn on the computer at 12:10, it would realise the backup time was missed and start it right away).

Thanks in advance.
