Hi,

Do you use the Full or the Mirror backup type? Please note the Full type will back up all files every time, while the Mirror backup type will copy only new and modified files.

Hey guys,
Windows 7 Backup lagged the crap out of my computer and I just didn't feel overly trusting of it. Also it takes up heaps of space on my backup drive.

FBackup seemed like a powerful and lightweight solution. I set a full backup to happen every night at 5am, in hopes that after the first full backup, all nightly backups would only take a few minutes to update any files that were changed.

But it's currently 11am and it's only 75% through backing up - this is almost a week into the schedule. Every night has been the same.

Please let me know if there is anything you need to help troubleshoot this, or if there's a quick answer to it all :) Thanks!

-Rhys

Hi,

Please send us:
- the .fkc catalog file for that job. You can find the .fkc file if you go to View->Open folder->Destination folder.
- the .log file for the last backup job. To find it, please go to: View->Job Logs->Last Backup Log.
Put the files into a zip archive and send them to info[at]fbackup[dot]com

I get inconsistent results. Sometime a mirror backup is a full backup, sometimes it is incremental. It is always full when done manually, but only sometimes when done by schedule it is only sometimes it is incremental. There is only one job specified. I am using FBackup Version 4.5 Build 232 for backup on an external hard drive using Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Using Backup4all you can create Full, Differential, Incremental or Mirror backups. Incremental backups are restored in the same way.

My backup software was RRB (Relative Revision Backup) v.6 (http://www.datamills.com) but since it is not compatible with Windows Vista I am searching and testing other backup software.

The one I am liking best for it's clear and unclutered interface is FBackup. Searching why I can't select incremental and diferential backups I found Backup4All.

RRB is incremental for ever. When it comes to Restore, it prepares a virtual backup by merging all relevant incremental backups.

Incremental backups are very fast but restores are a pain. Does Backup4All do something similar to what I wrote above?

Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards,

Thanks for the information. I will quit looking for a way to use incremental backup.

FYI, In the Fbackup4 HELP file under the heading BACKUP VIEW it says "Type of the backup. Each of the backup types is represented by a descriptive icon: Full, Incremental, Differential, Mirror". It appears that the HELP file that is packaged with the free version of Fbackup4 is not correct.

Hi,

FBackup is a free backup application and it contains only the Full and Mirror backup types. If you want to use the incremental and differential backup types, you can try a commercial application as Backup4all.

I can't find any backup options in Fbackup4 other than for a full backup or a mirror backup. I installed the free version of Fbackup 4, version 4.1 build 134. Does this version have an option to do an incremental backup,or a differential backup? If not, how do I get these options?

Thanks!
